What is the Grow Healthier + Happier newsletter all about?

This newsletter is a beautiful conversation about living a healthier life through cultivating a nourishing relationship with good food, happiness, healthy living/wellness practices, easy recipes (nutrient-dense in 30 minutes or less), energy, movement, and mindset. Those are the things you’ll read about in this newsletter subscription.

I want to help women gain vibrant physical and mental energy to go for what they want without going into burnout. I’ve been there… now I am trying to help others.

My ultimate goal is to be part of something that helps women gain radical self-confidence, feel healthy and amazing, and unleash their inner superwoman!

Healthy food can be utterly delicious. So can a piece of cake!

My philosophy around food is simple: eat mostly whole, nutrient-dense foods, and eat your cake in moderation. Do you realize how much tastier the cake is if you only eat it once a week or twice a month? The anticipation is pretty darn delicious too!

Eat with intention, joy, and contentment (rather than guilt) while in alignment with your overall health goals. This can cultivate a nourishing relationship with food.

My name is Melissa - you can call me Missy or Lissa, but please, not Mel. I’ve been living a healthy life for 20+ years and on a mission to help others do the same. I am a bit quirky and kindness might be one of my superpowers.

  • I am a certified holistic nutrition health coach through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.

  • I am also a certified personal trainer, vinyasa flow instructor, and nutritionist through the International Sports Sciences Association.

  • I started my main website, Wellness Lovely to get all of my experience and knowledge about nutrition, healthy cooking, mindset/confidence, and movement out into the world to help other women

Welcome to my little corner of the world of mindful eating, where every meal is intentionally nourishing my body and soul.

For me, healthy eating is not just about the food on my plate; it's about the experience and purpose behind each bite. I am a foodie at heart.  I light up anytime I look at a menu, whether it’s ultra-healthy, or ultra-indulgent.  

I have found a beautiful relationship with food where I can indulge in moderation while eating to fuel my cells *most* of the time.  My body tells me if I am a bit off track. Listen to your body.

I truly love a huge salad filled with roasted chickpeas, sunflower seeds, greens, cabbage, avocado, and carrots topped off with a hummus, herb, and olive oil mason jar blend.  I eat my salad and revel at how freakin’ good it is!

I also love a hunk of chocolate cake!  One thing that has worked well for me is to make a special indulgent day.  I usually call it “bakery treat Friday”.  It helps me to wait to indulge until my special earmarked day. The anticipation almost tastes better than the cake!?  

These aspects contribute to good health: aligning my body, mind, and soul with purposeful eating. I believe in embracing food as a source of *joy* and *nourishment*, where moderation includes the occasional step beyond the normal healthy boundaries.  As a foodie, I can’t be super strict with my eating.  It zaps the joy.  I embrace moderation regarding food, and I’m happier for it.
