Lifesaving quick meals. In Italy, we call them crostoni when they are baked. We don't toast then first, just load with goodies drizzle with oil and grill! the edges get really crispy but the bread stays softer, easy to eat. I consider then a sort of easy pizza! my mom used to use english muffins. We also do flatbreads!

I fear it will be tooooo soft if I don't toast first, but next time I will give it a shot! It really is like an easy pizza! I have made lil' personal pizzas using really good 'fresh' bakery breads. English muffs and flatbreads are perfect too ---- now I am hungry!

I am sure it depends on your bread! I buy a natural yeast rustic loaf, like. Sour dough, which holds its shape

Sourdough is what I use often and really could go without the toasting, but a softer Tuscan bread at my local bakery is so soft, so I would 100% toast it. I love bread - I try to only consume it once per week - and then it tastes 1000% better. Thanks for your comments here. I've subscribed to your page and look forward to reading your golden nuggets!
