I find the same thing. Small moments during the day to recharge are so important! One that I try to fit in is to go somewhere private and record a gratitude message on my voice memo phone app, then send it to my best friend. She sends me a gratitude message too at some point. There’s no set time for this to happen, so I never know when I’m gonna get a message!
I know it is cliché but having a bath was/is always my self care. I have always been a bath person and It was my time to relax once the kids had gone to bed. I have a hot bath, light a candle and read a book..
Love it Danni! And me too! It’s in my take-care-of-me toolbox. Especially after a long work day. I find that there are sooo many small self-care practices that cultivate peace.
Thank you Mila! I am glad you find the ‘small’ pockets helpful too - it makes ALL the difference! What is something small you do during the day to recharge?
Just for fun, I work part-time as a scheduler for a small house-cleaning company. for one-hour a day, I get to talk to total strangers about their lives, their homes, and help them help themselves to a little self-care. today, I had one client say to me, "i've never had a house-cleaner, and I feel so selfish asking someone else to clean my home for me." I said to her "it's not selfish, it's self-care." and I heard her audibly sigh a deep exhale of relief. I then said, "this is our job. We like to take care of you so that you can have more time, energy, and space to take care of those you love." She then proceeded to tell me about how she is caring for an aging parent in hospice while dealing with a teenage daughter with mental health challenges. In less then 7 minutes, I got to tell her that she's allowed to let others take care of HER. When did self-care get redefined as selfishness?
I am reading this on a day when I spent 8 hours in front of my laptop with hardly any breaks, and I can feel the value of micro moments that always put me in a good mood. Unfortunately, I didn't have that today because I wasn't intentional about it. I have always felt if I spend the first five waking moments of my day making my bed instead of looking at my phone I'd be better off. These little moments matter more than we think they do. Lovely post Melissa!✨
Those moments sure do matter. I have those days too when I don’t get up enough from my work computer and I feel it. I have a special cube timer next to my computer that I use for joy breaks. 5 to 10 minutes of joy a few times a day changes my workday stress.
When I stop prioritizing self-care, everything suffers. I just finished writing a post that's going live tomorrow about self-care and four other essential elements to living a fulfilled life. Thanks for these great reminders!

Whoa... that is an amazing idea! That would totally light me up - I would love to start sending a gratitude message like you do - AMAZING!
We are almost at 200 messages. It’s a great feeling when I see them in my text inbox, totally makes my morning
Totally in love with this.

I love those small pockets of self-care throughout the day. That’s the most effective way for me. Very good article and reminder! Thanks 🤩

I absolutely LOVE it! Indeed that can be a form of self-care. In a sense, it is buying yourself time. Lovely!

Love these reflection questions. I’m going to use them when I journal tomorrow morning so thank you!
I’m so happy about that! Wishing you a beautiful journal session!
Insightful questions to ask ourselves - that self-love approach can move mountains!
That is a powerful statement and I think so true ---- it can move mountains!

Thank you! I think I just found your article!
September is National Self-care Month. I have to tell you, I'm a huge Wayne Dyer fan. Great quote! Great article!
I didn’t even realize it was self-care month! Perfect timing! Thanks Daria!
Great stuff. Small daily habits = BIG results over time. Great list of questions.
This is amazing 🌹
Not the usual self-care post :-). Thanks!
Well, thank you and nice to meet you via Mika!
