Get a little healthier by hitting up your local library
My library has become one of my favorite places
The following post is part of a Seed Pod collaboration about libraries. Seed Pods are a SmallStack community project designed to help smaller publications lift each other up by publishing and cross-promoting around a common theme. We’re helping each other plant the seeds for growth!
How long has it been since you’ve been to the library?
When the kids were little, the library was a regular stop for my family.
I used to go and grab a book here and there randomly, or I would go to the annual book sale.
Then I had to go to the library to pay my teenager’s fines for books she took out for school and lost in the abyss of her bedroom.
Then for probably 10 + years I didn’t step foot into the library.
It was last year that I started going to my local library again. It is right in the village by the lake. I drive by it all the time, so one day I walked in and fell in love with the peaceful library, for myself. Not for kids, not for school, but for me.
Have you ever bought a recipe book after listening to the author on a podcast only to be disappointed? I need to peruse a recipe book before purchasing to ensure that there are enough recipes I would make.
Are you on a path to living a healthier lifestyle and need some help? There are so many books that you can read to help with this. Psst… I hope this newsletter helps too!
I am going to share some of my favorite healthy lifestyle and recipe books with you in hopes that it might inspire you. If you get them at the library first, then you can make an informed decision about purchasing the book.
Try before you buy!

Is your library in a walking town?
When I make a trip to the library, I almost always get a walk in too. Since it is near the lake and a coffee shop, I marry the 3 for a lovely little adventure. Books, iced coffee, trail at the lake = pure joy for me.
See if you can make an adventure of your library visit with what surrounds the library. This can not only bring you joy, but if you can walk it, you’re contributing to your long-term health.
Cheers to books and libraries!
I may earn a commission if you purchase from one of my links. Thank you in advance!
