“Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence.” - Aristotle
Please share this post if you know someone else who could use some happiness tips today.
I’m pretty happy most of the time, but some days I could use a little kickstart. My mood can fluctuate like anyone else.
If we don’t have a full-ish cup, how can we take on the world and help others?
Just as a little reminder: your #1 asset is YOU!
The thing about happiness is that it can impact your health.
Being happier may motivate a person to choose healthier and more positive lifestyle choices, which is truly important for overall health. Happy people tend to eat healthier diets and exercise more than less positive folks. This can boost your immune system, help ease stress, positively impact longevity, may improve heart health by reducing blood pressure and some studies even show that a little more happiness may help to reduce pain.
And, now to this super simple list. I would LOVE it if you added to this list in the comments below. Let’s double the happiness habits list!
17 Happiness Habits:
Have a dance party at any time
Meditation in the morning
Drink water before caffeine in the morning
Surround yourself with plants (not just for green thumbs)
Choose nutrient-dense add-ons to your meals — nutritious foods can give you more energy and reduce brain fog
Sleeeeeeep — get your 7–8 for optimal health/happiness
Start a gratitude journal — write 1–3 things you are grateful for every day, morning or night
Play a board game! Don’t have a ton of free time? Set a timer and play for 15 minutes. Leave the game out on the table until the next 15 free minutes you have
Make today the day that you compliment a stranger, hold the door open for someone, buy the person behind you in the coffee shop line a treat or a coffee
Give someone who lives in your house a 10-second hug (this is a gooooood one)
Take 15 minutes to learn something new, then share what you learned
Play music that makes you happy while you shower, cook, clean, etc
Speed clean! Cleanliness can = happy. But no one loves cleaning, right! I like to set a timer for cleaning, which forces me to ‘speed’ through it and get it done at warp speed!
Try box breathing — it’s so calming (and can help you with sleep) Tip on box breathing here
Create an atmosphere when you cook. I light a candle, pour some kombucha into a wine glass, and put on a cooking show (ok, this is what I do, but you do you and create YOUR ideal atmosphere). This is a good tip for those who don’t love to cook as it might add some joy to the activity
Color in an adult (or children’s) coloring book — this is pretty pure serenity work!
Gentle exercise — get the endorphins and energy flowing with some exercise that YOU enjoy (it can be 5 or 10 minutes - just move)
What will you try today to cultivate happiness at home?
